BACK TO

Shelly,

You are my favorite because you have the sweetest nature of anyone I have ever known.  Almost from the time you could walk, you were watching after the other kids and making sure they stayed out of the street, that they all got along, that they got a hug when they needed one.  Then, too, you have given me a hug or two when they were just what I needed.

On those terrible minutes each time when I had to leave, you always raced me down the sidewalk as I drove away, grinning and waving as you beat me to stop sign.  How I managed the next few blocks with eyes too full to see, I will never know.

One of my favorite pictures of you is when you were a little over a year old.  You used to stick out your lower lip when you were displeased.  I don't know that I have ever seen a better lip suited for such things.  In the picture you have a rather pleased look on your face but your little fat lower lip extends out past your nose.

I love you best because you have the soul of your namesake, my mother.  Your sweetness and inner beauty shine wherever you go.
